Connected on day one
Responders need connectivity the day they arrive, for coordination, registration, payments, logistics and their own safety. After a disaster, local networks are often down or overloaded. A deployable kit brings a field office, warehouse or clinic online within days, and keeps it running for as long as the operation lasts.
Ce qui est mesuré
Links, use, security and power
The kit measures itself: availability and capacity of each backhaul link, Wi-Fi coverage and use across offices and warehouses, security events at the gateway and the state of its solar and battery system. Staff see the same status the support team sees.
- Measured
- Link availability · Capacity · Wi-Fi use · Security events · Power
Le nœud de base
Priority, offline and separated
The node caches updates and maps to save satellite capacity, gives coordination and safety calls priority, and keeps local services working offline when links fail, syncing when they return. The gateway separates staff, partner and guest networks, so sensitive data never shares a network with guests.
Radio et liaisons
Satellite first, then everything else
Low-orbit satellite gives broadband on day one where terrestrial networks are down. Cellular is bonded with it where it works, Wi-Fi covers offices and warehouses, and mesh links reach a nearby clinic or warehouse without cables, so the whole compound shares one secured network.

Comment ça marche
From a crate to a coordination call
A kit arrives at a new field office two days after a cyclone. Staff mount the terminal and access points and power on; the site registers itself and is online within hours. That afternoon the coordination call runs on it, and registration teams start work on a separate, secured network.
De la commande à l’exploitation · Commande
Scope the operation
The scope reads the operation’s sites, staff numbers, services, expected length, security policy and the shared services already present. Nexus Observatory Inc. returns the kit per site, capacity plan, security design, support and a price per site and per month.

Survey remotely, then on site
Sites are first assessed from maps and partner reports, then on arrival: sky view for satellite, cellular coverage, buildings for mesh points, power, and safe places for equipment. Findings are recorded so the next site in the same area deploys faster.
De la commande à l’exploitation · Autorisations
Import, licences and security
Equipment crosses borders under the relief telecommunications convention where the host country applies it, radio use is notified or licensed, and the agency’s security and data protection officers approve the network design. Every approval is kept with the site record.
De la commande à l’exploitation · Fabrication
Build ready-to-run kits
Kits are built and tested with terminals, routers, access points, gateways and nodes configured with the agency’s security policy and networks. Nodes are enrolled with their identities, and every kit runs together for a day before it is packed for shipping.

Set up in a day
Staff or crews unpack the kit, mount the satellite terminal, place access points and mesh points, connect solar power, and power on. The kit registers itself, and the site is online, usually within the first day on site. Crews follow the site safety plan throughout the work.
De la commande à l’exploitation · Mise en service
Commission the security
Chaque nœud prouve son identité. Link capacity is measured, Wi-Fi coverage walked, network separation and security policies tested, and emergency calling checked. The site enters service when its tests pass and the security officer signs off. Acceptance is recorded with the owner before handover.
De la commande à l’exploitation · Exploitation
Keep the operation connected
The operation sees every site’s links, capacity, use, power and security events. Capacity shifts to sites in the hardest phase, failed links switch to the second path, and security events reach the agency’s team at once. Every alert and action is kept on the record.
De la commande à l’exploitation · Maintenance
Support until the end
Remote support handles most faults; spares travel with logistics; software and security updates roll out in rings. When the operation ends, kits are recovered, wiped, refurbished and returned to the stock for the next deployment. Maintenance history stays with each site for its whole life.

01Le lieu et ses dangers
Où il fonctionne, et ce qui peut mal tourner.
Operating contextHumanitarian operations depend on shared connectivity services, and the international convention on telecommunications for disaster relief eases the import and use of equipment across borders. Information security is managed to the international standard, and data about affected people is handled under humanitarian data protection guidance.
Dangers
- No working networks after a disaster
- Satellite capacity that is costly and quickly saturated
- Power cuts and fuel shortages
- Theft of equipment
- Sensitive data about affected people exposed on open networks
02Ce qu’il faut mesurer
