At a glance

Grid data, licensed for your use

Data & licensing delivers observations, derived layers and evidence in research, commercial, enterprise and government tiers, with the licence of every source carried through to every product and residency fixed by contract. Every product states its content, method, quality and licence up front, so a buyer knows what they are getting.

问题所在

Good data, unusable terms

Data that cannot be licensed cannot be used. Buyers need to know what each product contains, where it came from, what they may do with it and where it is stored, before they build on it. Terms that are unclear stop projects even when the data itself is excellent.

  1. 问题所在

    Good data, unusable terms

Data that cannot be licensed cannot be used. Buyers need to know what each product contains, where it came from, what they may do with it and where it is stored, before they build on it. Terms that are unclear stop projects even when the data itself is excellent.

  2. 功能

  3. The system

    One station, part by part

Before anything is installed, the station is laid out as its parts: instrument, logger and edge compute, secure element, GNSS timing, radio, power, enclosure, wiring, earthing, mast and foundation.

  4. Assembly

Built and tested before it ships

Each part is fitted to the pole and the enclosure, wired through surge protection to one earth, powered and bench-tested until it signs its first reading.

  5. Installation

    Installed on site

The crew arrives with the tested kit: foundation, mast raised and guyed, instruments mounted, cables run in conduit, the enclosure fitted out and the site commissioned.

  6. Deployment

    Site after site, one design

The same station goes in at every site on the plan, each commissioned against the same checklist, until the field is covered.

  7. Wiring

    Signal, power and time, wired

Inside one site the instrument’s signal pair runs to the logger, solar charges the battery that feeds the load, GNSS time reaches the clock and the logger hands its records to the radio.

  8. Residency

Where data lives, fixed by contract

Storage and processing locations are part of the contract, enforced by placement and recorded in the audit trail, so a regulator can see where each dataset has been. Residency is checked at every copy and every job, not just promised in the contract.

    See Residency
  9. Connections

    Backhaul, time and power

The relay carries every site to the edge over a point-to-point link, the grandmaster’s time reaches every clock, and each site keeps its power through the night.

  10. 运作方式

From instrument to product, provenance intact

Each observation arrives signed and quality-flagged. Products are built from catalogued inputs by versioned methods, so every value can be traced to its sources, its processing and its licence. When a source is corrected, every product built from it can be found and refreshed, and the change is recorded.

  11. 许可

The licence travels with the data

Each source’s licence is recorded at ingestion and propagated to everything derived from it. A product can only be released under terms its inputs allow. Mixed sources are tracked to the field, so a product never quietly inherits a restriction it cannot honour.

  12. 产品

    Observations, derived layers and evidence

Products range from raw observations to gridded layers and evidence bundles for audits and claims, each with a dataset card describing content, method, quality and licence. Dataset cards describe each product’s coverage, latency and known limits, so a user can judge fitness for purpose before buying.

  13. API

    One interface for every product

Every product is served through one API with consistent identifiers, time and space queries and licence checks, plus OGC SensorThings for live observations and bulk delivery for archives. Access is controlled per tier and per licence, and every request is logged for billing and audit.

  14. 发布

Routes from licensed to open release

Licensed data can move to open release on a schedule or a trigger written into the agreement, so funders and the public eventually benefit from what was collected. Each release is recorded with its date, its terms and the products it covers.

    See PublicationOpen data and methods
  15. How it scales

    More sources, same catalogue

New networks, satellites and partners add sources to the same catalogue; products scale by tiling and versioning rather than by new pipelines. A tier is a set of rights, not a separate copy. Adding a source adds coverage to every product that can use it, with its licence carried through.

  16. Tiers

    Research, commercial, enterprise, government

Tiers differ in rights, latency, support and residency, not in the truth of the data. Researchers, companies and agencies read the same record under the terms they need. Upgrading a tier changes what you may do, not which data you see, so analyses stay comparable.

    See Tiers
  17. What you get

Open tier, paid tiers, residency by contract

An open tier and dataset cards are public. Paid tiers and residency by contract are delivered by Nexus Observatory Inc., with usage and delivery reported on record. Usage and delivery are reported on record, so the terms are honoured and visible to both sides.

    Request a data licence

Tell us the products, the area and the use. We reply with the tier, the terms and a sample. A sample comes with its dataset card, so the decision is made on the real product, not on a description of it.
