Reference design, drawn to scale · drag to turn

  1. Public safety · Solutions

Warning time, gained at the sensor

Observing networks, communications and data for emergency management: hydromet and fire-weather stations, camera towers with inference at the edge, deployable cells for incident command, and the integration that hands a trigger to the alerting authority, which keeps every decision. Needs: rainfall, river level and soil moisture, fire weather, smoke and ignition, ground movement and seismic activity, communications at the incident base and reporting uptime and data latency.

  2. Solution

    Hydrometeorological and flood observing networks

Stream gauges, rain gauges, weather radar and automatic weather stations built to WMO practice, reporting through WIS 2.0 where the agency requires it. For national meteorological and hydrological services, river-basin agencies, utilities. Delivered as hardware + software, managed service and build-operate-transfer.

    Talk to sales
  3. Solution

    Wildfire camera and fire-weather networks

Camera towers with edge inference and co-located fire-weather stations; detections go to the agency that decides and dispatches. For forestry and emergency agencies, utilities. Delivered as hardware + software and managed service. Regional networks across fire seasons. Crews, software and records stay the same as the network grows.

    Talk to sales
  4. Solution

    Deployable connectivity and sensing kits

A cell on wheels with satellite backhaul, mesh telemetry and environment nodes for incident bases and events. For emergency agencies, humanitarian logistics, event operators. Delivered as rental and managed service. Pre-positioned fleets. Crews, software and records stay the same as the network grows.

    Talk to sales
  5. Solution

    Satellite and non-terrestrial backhaul

LEO and GEO backhaul, 3GPP non-terrestrial integration and direct-to-device fallbacks for remote sites. For remote operators, humanitarian logistics, utilities. Delivered as managed service. Any latitude with coverage. It runs on the open Observatory Protocol, so other providers can join. Crews, software and records stay the same as the network grows.

  6. Solution

    National observing network programmes

Build-operate-transfer of national observing infrastructure as digital public infrastructure, with transfer of skills and records. For governments, development lenders financing them. Delivered as build-operate-transfer and professional services. National. It is delivered and supported by Nexus Observatory Inc. The evidence travels with the data wherever it goes.

  7. Solution

    Managed Site

One accountable operator for a site end to end: power, connectivity, instruments, compute, maintenance and evidence. For any owner of remote or critical sites. Delivered as managed service. Fleets of sites. Service levels are written as numbers you can measure.

  8. Scenario

National GBON surface and upper-air network

WMO-grade stations reporting through WIS 2.0, funded through the systematic-observations financing pathway. It builds on the same base node, timing, trust and operations as every other public safety deployment, so it can start small and grow site by site. It runs on the open Observatory Protocol, so other providers can join.

  9. Scenario

Wildfire camera network and fire-weather stations

Camera towers with edge inference and co-located fire-weather stations, utility- or agency-funded. It builds on the same base node, timing, trust and operations as every other public safety deployment, so it can start small and grow site by site. Changes are versioned, tested and reversible.

  10. How it works

From instrument to record, in one chain

An instrument reads; the base node checks the value, stamps time and place, signs it and sends it over the link the site has: cellular, LoRaWAN, private 5G or satellite. The edge verifies the signature before admitting it, and the core catalogues it with its metadata, quality flag and licence.

  11. Trust

Every node proves what it is

A node joins only after its hardware root of trust answers an attestation challenge. Keys stay in secure hardware, software arrives signed, and every reading carries a signature, so its origin can be checked by anyone downstream without asking us.

  12. What you get

Open where it can be, contracted where it must be

The protocol, methods and open data are free to use and build on. Sites, fleets, managed operations and data tiers are delivered under contract by Nexus Observatory Inc., priced per site and per fleet, with service levels written as numbers you can measure on your own dashboard.

  13. Next step

    Plan a public safety deployment

Tell us the sites, the measurements and the people who will use them. We reply with a design and a scope for public safety. An engineer replies with a survey proposal and a scope, and the plan grows from one site to the network you need, at your pace.

01Specialized fields

Solutions shaped for each field.

Every offer is configured for the field it serves. Open a field for its stack, its data path and the questions buyers ask.

Specialized field

Wildfire detection and response

Smoke detection from towers, fire weather and danger, thermal confirmation and satellite hotspots, on microwave and satellite to the fire agency’s dispatch, so a start is seen in minutes. The full field →
Specialized field

Flash and urban floods

Rain and water depth in streets, culverts and small streams, with cameras at known flood points, on LoRaWAN and cellular, so warnings reach people in the minutes a flash flood allows. The full field →
Specialized field

Landslides and debris flows

Ground movement by GNSS, pore pressure and rainfall thresholds, ground vibration for debris flows, on LoRaWAN and satellite from unstable slopes to the agency that warns and closes roads. The full field →
Specialized field

Earthquakes and early warning

Strong-motion and broadband seismometers, GNSS for large events, structural response in key buildings, on fibre and cellular with timing that lets a warning outrun the shaking. The full field →
Specialized field

Avalanches and mountain roads

Snow and weather on the slopes, avalanche detection by radar and infrasound, cameras on the paths, on microwave and satellite to the road and the avalanche service, so roads close before the snow comes down. The full field →
Specialized field

Incident response and deployable networks

A network that arrives with the crews: cell on wheels, satellite, mesh, drones, gas and thermal sensing at the scene, so incident command sees and talks when local networks are down. The full field →

07Questions buyers ask

Before you scope it.

Who sells, and who owns the data?

Nexus Observatory Inc. is the seller of record. The data your systems collect stays yours, under the licence you choose.

Do we have to buy hardware?

No. We deliver as a managed service, a data licence or a system you own.

Can we start small?

Yes. Start with one station or one site, then grow to a fleet and a network on the same open protocol, without replacing what you bought.

Which standards do the systems meet?

Each system is drawn against the open protocol and the standards it is composed from, listed on this page.

Who issues warnings and official decisions?

Warnings, alerts and official acts stay with the competent authority. We supply the observing systems, the data and the evidence behind them.

What happens after go-live?

We run the systems to a written service level, with monitoring, repair and an evidence trail, or train your team to run them.
