Stations

Register and run a station.

Observatories and stations join the open Observatory grid from your account. Register the site, pair each device in the NXS Observatory app, choose how it is shown and how its data is shared, and follow every step in a dated record.

01运作方式

How a site becomes a published station.

01

Register the observatory

Add your observatory with its type and place, or link one that is already listed and claim it.

02

Attach and pair stations

Attach each station to its observatory, then pair the device in the app with the code shown once in your account.

03

Choose what is shown

Set the public location precision and the data tier of each station. Nothing is public until you choose it.

04

Follow the record

Every step is dated: attestation, time quality, publishing state and the qualification checks.

Contributions are voluntary and unpaid. No amount or rate is shown or promised.

02Qualification record

What a station needs to qualify for the data commons.

Each check is passed, missing or failed. A station qualifies when every check passes; until then the record lists what is missing.

CheckDecided by

03Location precision

You decide how precisely a station is shown.

The station is not shown on the public map.

11 km

About 11 km

The default for new stations: the place is rounded to a cell about 11 km wide.

1 km

About 1 km

The place is rounded to a cell about 1 km wide.

exact

Exact

Offered only to members of a verified organisation or observatory, after a confirmation.

04Data commons

Open daily data from qualified stations.

Stations on the open tier feed daily packs of summaries: one measure per station per day for the last 90 days, as CSV files with HXL tags, one file per country, under CC BY 4.0. The packs and their citation are on the data commons page.

05Device classes

The classes of devices a station can hold.

Stations are registered by device class, from weather and seismic sensors to gateways, radios and power. Each class lists the data ports, protocols and power it needs.

Need the station itself?

Build it from kits and parts in the Station Builder, or plan the site on real terrain in the Field Deployment Studio.
