Qualification: equipment proven in the lab, in the field and against the specification. The loop, step by step: 1. A lab chamber and a mast in the field. 2. Sensor, link, edge and console stand ready. 3. A device passes its heat and cold cycles. 4. Each reading is stamped with time and place. 5. The result is signed by the test rig. 6. The record reaches the evidence rack. 7. Relays carry the packets without reading them. 8. Signatures are checked before any model runs. 9. The rack ties it to the device’s serial. 10. The edge releases confirmed results only. 11. The same device repeats the test on the mast. 12. Instruments confirm the response took effect. 13. The two records agree in the file. 14. The alert arrives with its evidence attached. 15. Record, proof and action are archived together. 16. Everything settles back to idle.

Test and qualification
Tested against the specification. State on record.

Lab and field testing of devices and releases, conformance runs against the protocol, interoperability events where suppliers meet on one test plan, and evidence bundles a buyer, an auditor or a regulator can check without taking our word for it.

Tested against the specification, state on record

Test and qualification delivers lab and field testing of devices and releases, conformance runs against the protocol, interoperability events and evidence bundles anyone can check. Results are published as evidence bundles that anyone can verify without asking for our help.

Claims are easy; evidence is rare

Datasheets promise performance in conditions nobody’s site will see. Buyers, auditors and regulators need results they can check, from tests they can repeat. Without independent, repeatable tests, every comparison between suppliers is a comparison between marketing documents; qualification replaces claims with measured results, published either way.

  2. What it does

Tested against the specification, state on record

Test and qualification delivers lab and field testing of devices and releases, conformance runs against the protocol, interoperability events and evidence bundles anyone can check. Results are published as evidence bundles that anyone can verify without asking for our help.

  3. Field trials

On a real site, against a written plan

What passes the bench goes to a real site with a trial plan, reference instruments and acceptance criteria written before the trial starts. Trials end with a report that states what worked, what did not and what was changed during the trial.

    See Field trials
  4. Lab testing

Environmental, RF, power and EMC, on the bench

Devices are exposed to temperature, humidity, vibration and power disturbances, and their RF and EMC behaviour is measured, against a written test plan. Test equipment is calibrated and its records are kept with every result, so the measurement itself can be trusted.

  5. The system

    One station, part by part

Before anything is installed, the station is laid out as its parts: instrument, logger and edge compute, secure element, GNSS timing, radio, power, enclosure, wiring, earthing, mast and foundation.

  6. Assembly

Built and tested before it ships

Each part is fitted to the pole and the enclosure, wired through surge protection to one earth, powered and bench-tested until it signs its first reading.

  7. Installation

    Installed on site

The crew arrives with the tested kit: foundation, mast raised and guyed, instruments mounted, cables run in conduit, the enclosure fitted out and the site commissioned.

  8. Deployment

    Site after site, one design

The same station goes in at every site on the plan, each commissioned against the same checklist, until the field is covered.

  9. Wiring

    Signal, power and time, wired

Inside one site the instrument’s signal pair runs to the logger, solar charges the battery that feeds the load, GNSS time reaches the clock and the logger hands its records to the radio.

  10. Interoperability

    Many suppliers, one test plan

At interoperability events suppliers test against each other on one plan, and the matrix of results shows buyers which combinations work. Every combination tested is recorded, so a buyer can see which devices have been proven to work together. Problems found at the event are fixed before the field finds them.

    See Interoperability events
  11. Connections

    Backhaul, time and power

The relay carries every site to the edge over a point-to-point link, the grandmaster’s time reaches every clock, and each site keeps its power through the night.

  12. Ulinganifu

Run the protocol suite, publish the result

Devices and software run the protocol’s conformance suite; the result is signed and published, pass or fail, with the version tested. A failed result is published as clearly as a pass, so buyers know exactly what has and has not been shown.

    See ConformanceSee conformance
  13. Ushahidi

    Every result, signed and kept

Results are bundled with the test plan, the equipment used and its calibration, signed and kept, so anyone can check them later without asking. Bundles are signed and versioned, so a result can be traced to the exact product and plan that produced it.

    See Evidence
  14. After release

Field performance feeds back to the lab

Once a product is in the fleet, its field failures and drift are compared with what the lab predicted. Where they differ, the test plan is improved, so the next product of the class is tested against what the field really does to equipment.

  15. Releases

Every release qualified before it ships

Software releases pass regression and conformance tests before any rollout ring, and their results travel with them to the fleet. A release that fails is held back, and its results are kept so the fix can be checked against them.

  16. How it scales

    One test plan, many products

Test plans are written per device class, so every new product of a class is measured the same way and results stay comparable across suppliers and years. A device tested this year can be compared fairly with one tested years ago, because the plan, the equipment and the method are recorded with each result.

  17. What you get

    Qualification and the works-with programme

The conformance tool and test plans are open. Device and software qualification, the works-with programme and field trial management are contracted. Works-with testing gives makers a recognised way to show their products join any grid built on the specification, with results published either way.

    Qualify your device

Tell us the device or release and where it must work. We propose the test plan and the schedule; the test plan states what will be measured, against which requirement and with which equipment, before testing starts. We start with the requirement it must meet.
