Space safety

Tracking, telemetry and command, conjunction awareness.

Space safety, inside Space and satellite systems: TT&C radio links, telemetry and telecommand protocols, ranging and orbit determination, space link security and more. Every item is traced to its specification, from CCSDS 401.0-B (RF and modulation systems) to ECSS-E-ST-50-05C (RF and modulation), and runs on the open Observatory Protocol.

01What it is

Tracking, telemetry and command and space safety.

The space segment end to end: orbits and constellations, spacecraft buses, communications and Earth observation payloads, inter-satellite links, tracking and command, space safety, launch, and the licensing and filings that let a system operate over a site. Each technology below carries what it is, what we do with it, and the standard it is drawn against.

Satellite and space systems

TT&C radio links

S and X band links for housekeeping telemetry, commanding and ranging throughout the mission.

We design, integrate and operate.

CCSDS 401.0-B (RF and modulation systems) · ECSS-E-ST-50-05C (RF and modulation)

Satellite and space systems

Telemetry and telecommand protocols

Packet and frame standards that let ground systems and spacecraft from different suppliers interoperate.

We design, integrate and operate.

CCSDS 132.0-B (TM space data link) · CCSDS 232.0-B (TC space data link) · ECSS-E-ST-70-41C (packet utilisation standard)

Satellite and space systems

Ranging and orbit determination

Ranging, Doppler and GNSS-derived tracking that produce the orbit solutions every pass and manoeuvre depends on.

We design and operate.

CCSDS 414.1-B (pseudo-noise ranging) · CCSDS 503.0-B (Tracking Data Message)

Satellite and space systems

Space link security

Authentication and encryption of command and telemetry links so spacecraft accept only authorised commands.

We design, integrate and operate.

CCSDS 355.0-B (Space Data Link Security) · NIST IR 8270 (cybersecurity for commercial satellite operations)

Satellite and space systems

Conjunction assessment and collision avoidance

Screening of close approaches and planning of avoidance manoeuvres using standard conjunction messages.

We operate and support.

CCSDS 508.0-B (Conjunction Data Message) · ISO 24113 (space debris mitigation)

Satellite and space systems

Space situational awareness sensing

Radar, optical and passive RF tracking of objects in orbit, and fusion of shared catalogue data.

We design, integrate and operate.

CCSDS 503.0-B (Tracking Data Message) · UN COPUOS Guidelines for the Long-term Sustainability of Outer Space Activities

Satellite and space systems

Space weather monitoring

Solar and geomagnetic monitoring that predicts drag, charging, radiation and ionospheric effects on links and GNSS.

We integrate and operate.

NOAA Space Weather Scales · ECSS-E-ST-10-04C (space environment)

Satellite and space systems

Debris mitigation and end-of-life disposal

Design and operations that limit debris and remove spacecraft from protected orbits after mission end.

We design and operate.

ISO 24113 (space debris mitigation) · IADC Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines · FCC orbital debris rules (five-year post-mission disposal)

Frontier · Satellite and space systems

Rendezvous, proximity operations and on-orbit servicing

Inspection, refuelling, life extension and removal missions that change how space assets are maintained.

We design and support.

ISO 24330:2022 (RPO and on-orbit servicing)

03On the grid

Every site joins one observing grid.

The open networks on the grid today, over real relief and the geodesic cells we count them into, filtered to the space domain this area serves. A site built here enrols into the same grid.
