Education: every school a working observatory: what is moving at the frontier. The loop, step by step: 1. The bell rings and the class heads outside. 2. Sensor, link, edge and console stand ready. 3. A front blows across the playground. 4. Students read the station and log the weather. 5. Time and place are fixed to every sample. 6. Readings travel to the school edge node. 7. Relays carry the packets without reading them. 8. Signatures are checked before any model runs. 9. The school dataset joins the regional map. 10. The edge releases confirmed results only. 11. The classroom screen draws the day’s weather. 12. The console shows the evidence with the alert. 13. The class compares its data with the network. 14. Instruments confirm the response took effect. 15. The whole chain is archived for audit. 16. The weather passes and the station keeps logging.

  1. Education · Frontier

    Every school, a working observatory

School and campus observatories on real instruments, student data on the same grid as the professionals’, technician training on delivered systems, and learning paths from first principles to a commissioned site. Needs: weather and air at the school, data students can analyse, hands-on instruments, technician skills and materials for teachers.

  2. At the frontier

    Event-based and neuromorphic cameras

Sensors that report changes per pixel at microsecond rates with very low power. We integrate it. We take it to a real education site under a written pilot plan before it becomes a release. Every reading and every change leaves a record that can be checked later.

    Specification
    EMVA 1288 (reference for characterisation)
  3. At the frontier

    Quantum magnetometers and gravimeters

Atomic sensors with higher sensitivity and less drift for geophysics and navigation backup. We integrate it. We take it to a real education site under a written pilot plan before it becomes a release. It runs on the open Observatory Protocol, so other providers can join.

    Specification
    IAGA observatory practice (reference)
  4. At the frontier

    Distributed fibre-optic sensing

Acoustic, temperature and strain sensing along existing fibre for seismic, slope and pipeline monitoring. We design, integrate and deploy it. We take it to a real education site under a written pilot plan before it becomes a release. The same design repeats from the first site to the last.

    Specification
IEC 61757 series (fibre optic sensors)
  5. At the frontier

    Machine-learning calibration of sensor networks

Correcting low-cost sensors against reference sites with models whose drift is monitored. We design, integrate and operate it. We take it to a real education site under a written pilot plan before it becomes a release. Crews, software and records stay the same as the network grows.

    Specification
    CEN/TS 17660-1:2021
  6. At the frontier

    Environmental DNA autosamplers

Unattended water sampling for biodiversity and pathogen detection. We integrate it. We take it to a real education site under a written pilot plan before it becomes a release. Crews, software and records stay the same as the network grows.

    Specification
GOOS Essential Ocean Variables (biology and ecosystems)
  7. At the frontier

    Cosmic-ray neutron soil moisture

Field-scale soil moisture and snow water from neutron counts. We design, integrate and deploy it. We take it to a real education site under a written pilot plan before it becomes a release. Service levels are written as numbers you can measure.

    Specification
    IAEA cosmic-ray neutron sensing guidance
  8. Trust

Every node proves what it is

A node joins only after its hardware root of trust answers an attestation challenge. Keys stay in secure hardware, software arrives signed, and every reading carries a signature, so its origin can be checked by anyone downstream without asking us.

  9. Time and place

Every reading carries when and where

Readings are stamped against a disciplined clock, from satellite time or a PTP grandmaster, together with the station position and its siting record. When time or position is degraded, the record says so instead of hiding it, and every analyst downstream sees the same warning.

  10. Updates

    Updates in rings, with rollback

Software and configuration reach the fleet in rings: a canary site first, then a few, then all, each ring gated on health and data completeness. A failed gate stops the wave and returns each node to its last good release, without a site visit.

  11. Operations

Every node watched, every incident closed

The operations console shows every node with its state, its plan and its evidence. Alerts arrive with their data and a runbook; acknowledging one opens a work order, and an incident closes only when the cause is recorded and the fix verified.

  12. What you get

    Sensing as a Service

Observation networks designed, installed, operated and maintained for a monthly fee: weather, hydromet, air, seismic and environmental stations, with data delivered under a licence. Delivered as managed service and data licence, for agencies, utilities, municipalities, insurers, agribusiness. Scale: Global, multi-site, per-site pricing.

    Plan an education deployment

Tell us the sites, the measurements and the people who will use them. We reply with a design and a scope for education. An engineer replies with a survey proposal and a scope, and the plan grows from one site to the network you need, at your pace.
