Hospital environmentsCritical rooms that stay within their limits.
Operating theatres, isolation rooms, pharmacies and laboratories depend on air changes, pressure cascades, temperatures and medical gases staying within limits. Continuous sensing alerts estates teams before a room drifts, and gives infection control and pharmacy the records they need.

Limits that protect patients
Operating theatres, isolation rooms, pharmacies and laboratories protect patients only while air changes, pressure cascades, temperatures and medical gases stay within limits. When ventilation drifts or a pressure cascade reverses, the risk is invisible until an audit or an infection reveals it.
What is measured
Pressure, air, gases and cold
Sensors measure pressure differentials between rooms, air changes, temperature and humidity in critical rooms, particle counts in cleanrooms, medical gas pipeline pressures in plant rooms and zones, and temperatures in pharmacy rooms, fridges and freezers. Each reading carries its time and its quality flags.

The base node
Drift before breach
The node checks every room against its limits, alerts estates when a pressure cascade or temperature starts to drift, records each excursion with its duration for infection control and pharmacy, and keeps an audit trail that inspectors can follow. Nothing is lost when a link drops; the node keeps it.
Radio and links
Inside the hospital network
Hospitals have fibre networks, and monitoring rides them through a security gateway that keeps it separate from clinical systems. Battery sensors in stores and fridges reach a gateway over a low-power link without new cabling. Each link is chosen for the place, not from a catalogue.

How it works
From a falling cascade to a safe list
Before the morning list, the pressure difference between a theatre and its corridor starts to fall. The node alerts estates, who find a slipping fan belt and fix it before the first patient arrives. Infection control sees the excursion and its resolution on record.

Scope the critical rooms
The scope reads the hospital’s critical rooms, ventilation systems, gas zones, pharmacy stores and audit findings. Nexus Observatory Inc. returns the monitoring design, joins to building systems, security design and a price per hospital and per year. Every assumption in the scope is written down and priced.
Plan a deploymentFrom order to operation · Survey
Survey rooms and plant
Crews survey critical rooms, plant rooms and stores with estates, infection control and pharmacy: sensor positions, pressure references, gas zones, fridges and network access. Findings are recorded with drawings. Every finding is kept with the site record for the crews who follow.
From order to operation · Permits
Clinical access rules
Work in clinical areas follows the hospital’s infection control and access rules, theatre work is scheduled around lists, and connecting to building systems goes through change control. Every permit is kept with the record. Approvals are tracked site by site, so nothing waits unseen.
From order to operation · Build
Build and calibrate
Sensors are calibrated against traceable references, gateways and the node configured with each room’s limits, enrolled with their identities and tested together before shipping. Test results travel with the kit to the site. Nothing ships until the whole kit has passed its tests together.

Install around clinical work
Crews install sensors in rooms, plant and stores in agreed windows, connect gateways and the node behind the security gateway, and record every point. The site record is updated before the crew leaves. Crews follow the site safety plan throughout the work.
From order to operation · Commission
Commission against validation
Each node proves its identity. Readings are compared with the latest ventilation validation, particle counts with the cleanroom classification, gas pressures with plant gauges, and alarms are tested with estates. Results are signed and kept with the site record. Acceptance is recorded with the owner before handover.
From order to operation · Operate
Stay within limits
Estates see every critical room live and fix drifts before limits are breached; infection control receives pressure and air change records; pharmacy receives storage records; every excursion is kept with its duration. Reports for owners and funders come from the same record.
From order to operation · Maintain
Revalidate and audit
Sensors are recalibrated on the agreed plan, rooms revalidated on their schedule, software patched in rings, and audit packs produced from the record. Every change is kept. Spares and procedures travel with the crews. Maintenance history stays with each site for its whole life.

01The place and its hazards
Where it runs, and what can go wrong.
Operating contextSpecialised ventilation for healthcare premises and medical gas pipeline systems have published technical guidance, cleanroom air cleanliness is classified by particle concentration under the international standard, and medicines must be stored within their temperature ranges under international guidance for storage and transport.
Hazards
- Theatre ventilation failing during surgery
- Isolation room pressure reversing
- Pharmacy fridges and rooms out of range
- Medical gas pressure falling
- Excursions discovered only at the next audit

07Questions buyers ask
Before you scope it.
Does it replace ventilation validation?
No. It watches continuously between validations.
Is it secure on the hospital network?
It sits behind a security gateway.
Can pharmacy use it?
Yes, for storage temperature records.
Does it touch clinical systems?
No. It covers building and storage environments.
