Packet timing: PTP, SyncE and NTP.

Technologies

• Precision Time Protocol The base protocol for distributing time and phase over packet networks.
• Telecom profile with full timing support Every node a boundary or transparent clock, for the phase accuracy TDD and Open RAN need.
• Telecom profile with partial timing support Timing over networks that do not support PTP in every node, often with local GNSS assist.
• Frequency synchronisation profile PTP used to deliver frequency only, for FDD and legacy equipment.
• Synchronous Ethernet and enhanced SyncE Physical-layer frequency distribution that stabilises PTP and supports holdover.
• Time and phase network limits End-to-end error budgets that each network segment must meet.
• Industry PTP profiles Profiles for power utilities, broadcast and time-sensitive networking used at shared sites.
• Sub-nanosecond timing (high-accuracy profile) Enhanced PTP techniques for sub-nanosecond alignment in science and metrology networks.
• NTP and Network Time Security Millisecond-class time for IT systems and logs, with authenticated time.
• Timing protocol security Protecting time distribution against delay attacks, spoofed masters and tampering.
