Research: instruments for science, run like infrastructure: what we deliver. The loop, step by step: 1. A valley site at first light. 2. The chain from source to console stands ready. 3. Cloud and wind sweep up the valley. 4. The station and the vault register it. 5. Time and place are fixed to every sample. 6. Signed packets hop over the radio link. 7. Relays carry the packets without reading them. 8. The edge verifies every signature first. 9. The edge model checks it against its limit. 10. Only a confirmed result leaves the edge. 11. The alert reaches the operator console. 12. The console shows the evidence with the alert. 13. Record, proof and action are archived together. 14. Everything settles back to idle.

[Use cases](https://observatory.global/industries/research/use-cases/)

[Open the explainer](https://observatory.global/industries/research/explainer/)

1. Research · Solutions Instruments for science, run like infrastructure Research site and instrument services, observing networks that fill gaps in the global record, data with provenance from the first sample, and qualification so a result can be reproduced on another instrument. Needs: gaps in the global observing record, instrument uptime at remote sites, calibration traceability, data provenance and open publication.
2. Solution Research site and instrument services Site power, connectivity, timing and operations for telescopes, flux towers and research stations. For universities, research infrastructures, space agencies. Delivered as managed service and professional services. Global research sites. It is delivered and supported by Nexus Observatory Inc. The evidence travels with the data wherever it goes. [Talk to sales](https://observatory.global/contact/sales-enquiry/)
3. Solution Observation data products and evidence bundles Licensed feeds and archives with metadata, quality flags and provenance on every value; evidence bundles for audits and claims processes. For analytics platforms, insurers, lenders, researchers, agencies. Delivered as data licence and API. Global catalogue. Service levels are written as numbers you can measure. [Talk to sales](https://observatory.global/contact/sales-enquiry/)
4. Solution Device and software qualification against the protocol Test programmes that show a device or release meets the protocol for a stated scope, with published results. For OEMs, integrators, software vendors. Delivered as professional services. Global vendor base. It is delivered and supported by Nexus Observatory Inc. The evidence travels with the data wherever it goes. [Talk to sales](https://observatory.global/contact/sales-enquiry/)
5. Solution Drone survey and 3D site twins Survey campaigns planned to the ground sample distance, photogrammetry and LiDAR, and site twins kept current. For utilities, mines, construction, telecom. Delivered as professional services and data licence. Per site; recurring campaigns. It runs on the open Observatory Protocol, so other providers can join. [Talk to sales](https://observatory.global/contact/sales-enquiry/)
6. Solution Ground segment hosting Antenna sites, shelters, power and fibre for satellite operators, with downlink and processing at the edge. For satellite operators, EO companies, research missions. Delivered as managed service and infrastructure hosting. Multi-site, multi-mission. It runs on the open Observatory Protocol, so other providers can join. [Talk to sales](https://observatory.global/contact/sales-enquiry/)
7. Scenario Research-infrastructure gap-filling nodes Observatory-as-a-service for research infrastructures that must extend coverage under their own quality rules. It builds on the same base node, timing, trust and operations as every other research deployment, so it can start small and grow site by site. Changes are versioned, tested and reversible.
8. Scenario Citizen seismology and school seismographs Compact seismographs feeding open data networks. It builds on the same base node, timing, trust and operations as every other research deployment, so it can start small and grow site by site. Every reading and every change leaves a record that can be checked later.
9. How it works From instrument to record, in one chain An instrument reads; the base node checks the value, stamps time and place, signs it and sends it over the link the site has: cellular, LoRaWAN, private 5G or satellite. The edge verifies the signature before admitting it, and the core catalogues it with its metadata, quality flag and licence.
10. Trust Every node proves what it is A node joins only after its hardware root of trust answers an attestation challenge. Keys stay in secure hardware, software arrives signed, and every reading carries a signature, so its origin can be checked by anyone downstream without asking us.
11. Time and place Every reading carries when and where Readings are stamped against a disciplined clock, from satellite time or a PTP grandmaster, together with the station position and its siting record. When time or position is degraded, the record says so instead of hiding it, and every analyst downstream sees the same warning.
12. What you get Open where it can be, contracted where it must be The protocol, methods and open data are free to use and build on. Sites, fleets, managed operations and data tiers are delivered under contract by Nexus Observatory Inc., priced per site and per fleet, with service levels written as numbers you can measure on your own dashboard.
13. Next step Plan a research deployment Tell us the sites, the measurements and the people who will use them. We reply with a design and a scope for research. An engineer replies with a survey proposal and a scope, and the plan grows from one site to the network you need, at your pace. **07** Questions buyers ask

## Before you scope it.

Who sells, and who owns the data?

Nexus Observatory Inc. is the seller of record. The data your systems collect stays yours, under the licence you choose.

Do we have to buy hardware?

No. We deliver as a managed service, a data licence or a system you own.

Can we start small?

Yes. Start with one station or one site, then grow to a fleet and a network on the same open protocol, without replacing what you bought.

Which standards do the systems meet?

Each system is drawn against the open protocol and the standards it is composed from, listed on this page.

What happens after go-live?

We run the systems to a written service level, with monitoring, repair and an evidence trail, or train your team to run them.

### Ready when you are.
