Energy: the grid edge observed: where it is deployed. The loop, step by step: 1. Load is steady along the transmission line. 2. The chain from source to console stands ready. 3. A gust trips a conductor on span two. 4. The line sensor records the fault current. 5. Each reading is stamped with time and place. 6. Signed packets hop over the radio link. 7. Relays carry the packets without reading them. 8. Signatures are checked before any model runs. 9. The edge model locates the fault within a span. 10. The edge releases confirmed results only. 11. The control centre receives the location. 12. The alert arrives with its evidence attached. 13. Switching isolates the span and power reroutes. 14. Sensors check that the response worked. 15. The whole chain is archived for audit. 16. Supply is restored and the line goes quiet.

At a glance

## Remote microgrid observatory

Solar, storage and power-quality telemetry with a weather station and a small cell, for a community that is reducing diesel. In energy, it serves remote communities, utilities, Indigenous power producers, from one site to the whole network. For energy, it delivers diesel offset and power-quality records and solar-resource measurements and follows IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030.5 and National electrical codes.

1. Energy · Use cases The grid edge, observed Right-of-way and line monitoring, fire weather along transmission corridors, microgrids and site power, timing for protection and synchrophasors, and resource measurement for solar and wind that a lender can rely on. The use cases for energy start with remote microgrid observatory, bankable solar and wind resource station and utility grid-edge private LTE and wildfire weather.
2. Use case Remote microgrid observatory Solar, storage and power-quality telemetry with a weather station and a small cell, for a community that is reducing diesel. In energy, it serves remote communities, utilities, Indigenous power producers, from one site to the whole network. For energy, it delivers diesel offset and power-quality records and solar-resource measurements and follows IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030.5 and National electrical codes. StandardsIEEE 1547 · IEEE 2030.5 · National electrical codes
3. Use case Wildfire camera and fire-weather node Pan-tilt and thermal cameras with edge inference on a ridgeline tower, co-located with a fire-weather station. In energy, it serves electric utilities, provinces and states, counties, from one site to the whole network. For energy, it delivers smoke-detection alerts to dispatch, labelled supplementary, public camera feeds and fire-weather indices and follows OASIS CAP 1.2 (outbound alerts), NWCG RAWS standards and NFPA 1600. StandardsOASIS CAP 1.2 (outbound alerts) · NWCG RAWS standards · NFPA 1600
4. Use case Utility grid-edge private LTE and wildfire weather Private LTE on substations and poles for distribution automation, with weather nodes that inform public-safety power shutoff decisions. In energy, it serves electric utilities, from one site to the whole network. For energy, it delivers fault location, isolation and service restoration telemetry, distributed-energy control and islanding events and wildfire-risk weather observations and follows 3GPP Band 106, IEC 61850, IEEE 1547 / 2030.5 and NERC CIP. Standards3GPP Band 106 · IEC 61850 · IEEE 1547 / 2030.5 · NERC CIP
5. Use case Bankable solar and wind resource station A met mast or lidar with secondary-standard pyranometers and a traceable calibration chain, for a measurement campaign lenders accept. In energy, it serves renewable-energy developers, from one site to the whole network. For energy, it delivers resource datasets with data-recovery statistics and follows IEC 61724-1 (PV monitoring classes), IEC 61400-12 and 61400-50-3, MEASNET procedures and ISO/IEC 17025 calibration. StandardsIEC 61724-1 (PV monitoring classes) · IEC 61400-12 and 61400-50-3 · MEASNET procedures · ISO/IEC 17025 calibration
6. Evidence Standards an auditor can check Metadata for energy follows WIGOS and ISO 19115 practice, and observations are served through OGC SensorThings and exchanged through WIS 2.0. We keep every release, calibration and admission for energy as a signed record that an auditor can verify independently, against the standard it names.
7. Operations Every node watched, every incident closed The operations console shows every node of a network for energy with its state, its plan and its evidence. An alert arrives with its data and a runbook, acknowledging it opens a work order, and an incident for energy closes only when the operator records the cause and verifies the fix.
8. Failure and recovery When a node fails, the fleet knows first When a node for energy goes silent or a sensor drifts, the node buffers its data and fails over to a second link where the site has one. The alert carries the evidence a responder needs, and the record for energy loses nothing and counts nothing twice.
9. Field service One crew, from survey to repair One crew surveys, installs, commissions, calibrates and repairs the sites for energy, working from each site’s own record. Each visit updates that record, so the next crew knows what is on a site for energy, when it was last checked and why it changed, and plans spares from that history.
10. Updates Updates in rings, with rollback Software and configuration reach a fleet for energy in rings: one canary site first, then a few, then all, each ring gated on health and data completeness. A failed gate stops the wave, and each node for energy returns to its last good release without a site visit.
11. Scenario Utility grid-edge private LTE See industrial. Utility grid-edge private LTE runs on the same base node, timing, trust and operations as every other energy site, so it can start small and grow site by site. We start utility grid-edge private LTE with one site and a written plan, prove it against the agreed measures, then repeat it across energy.
12. What you get Microgrids and off-grid site power PV, storage and generator sizing for instruments and edge sites, with telemetry and remote control. For energy, it goes to remote sites, telecom, agencies and communities as hardware and software or a managed service, sized to the sites they run. [Talk to sales](https://observatory.global/contact/sales-enquiry/)
13. Next step Plan a energy network with us Tell us the use case closest to yours in energy, where it must run and who will act on its data. An engineer replies with a survey proposal, a design and a scope for energy, and the plan grows from one site to the network you need.
